People are completely unaware or are willing to turn a blind eye to the damage the Heritage Foundation has done to the American middle class. They definitely do not represent the American worker. I was a Republican up until the late 80s/early 90s when I finally understood how devastating supply-side tax policy was going to be to the American worker over the long haul. Heritage Foundation tax policy has resulted in the greatest shift in wealth from the middle class to the capital class in American history. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand if one taxes long-term capital gains at a maximum rate of 20 cents on a dollar while taxing work (classified as "ordinary income") at a maximum rate of 37 cents on dollar, that the long-term trend will be a shift in wealth up. Why doesn't the Heritage Foundation push for a maximum rate of 20 cents on a dollar on ordinary income? I know that answer to that one. The Heritage Foundation pushes social issues to get ordinary people to take their eye off of the financial ball. Wedge issues in general are a way for powerful people to keep the "little people" fighting each other over the scraps, so that they can raid the economy. It has been that way since the gentry created racism as a divide-and-conquer scheme after Nathaniel Bacon led an uprising of former indentured Europeans and Africans against the gentry in Virginia in 1676. What most people do not realize is that there was no such thing as slavery during the 17th century. Everyone who came to this continent in bondage, which was most people, did so as an indentured servant because there was no legal structure for perpetual slavery. The gentry could not have white and black colonists challenging them for control, so they created a collection of laws that pitted the racial groups against each other, starting with the anti-miscegenation laws of 1691 (Virginia) and 1692 (Maryland). My family dates back in Maryland and Virginia to the 17th century, so I know the truth. I have spent more than my fair share of time in the Maryland and Virginia archives.
